FEDBytes is hosting a special conversation this Thursday at 4:30pm EST (10:30pm Spain Time) on Zoom with Dani Rotstein, a TV commercial producer who left New York City to live and work in Majorca, Spain. He and his wife Carla have since become leaders of the Jewish community, including their creating of Limud Mallorca – an organization that promotes Jewish diversity, history and culture. We’ll learn with him about the riveting history of the Jews and present day life in Majorca.

FEDBytes is an interactive, virtual series that allows you to meet new people in your virtual neighborhood, from the comfort of your living room! While you are invited to join the live conversation, the conversation will also be recorded and subsequently released as a podcast. To listen to previous FEDBytes episodes, please visit here.

At FED in NYC, they’ll be preparing a special rolled flaky pastry for the occasion called ensaimada mallorquina. Dani will be explaining more about the fascinating history of this delicacy. You are welcome to cook along with us at home – the recipe is here, and to follow the Jewish custom you can use margarine instead of the lard. After having eschewed bread products for the week, we are excited to go back to bread with all of you on the zoom call, and invite you to join in by eating your favorite leavened treat while participating!

Please send an email to dfishmanshelby@gmail.com if you are interested in joining! The Zoom information will be sent out to those who reply on Thursday (you will need to go to https://zoom.us to download Zoom in advance if you haven’t used it before, and ideally you should join with audio and video capabilities — though the recording will be of the audio only).
